Version 1

Funkopedia is a catalogue of Funko Pop figures built by the people who collect them. It works because contributors add what they know and show their sources. These terms explain what that means for you.

Plain English, because terms nobody reads are worse than no terms at all.

Your account

You need an account to contribute. That is for attribution, not permission — every contributor is equal here, and what you add is credited to you.

Your username is public. Your name and email address are not. Your username appears on everything you contribute. Choose it accordingly; usernames cannot be transferred or reused once retired.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.

What you contribute

Two kinds of thing: photographs, and facts about figures.

Photographs

When you upload a photo, you keep it. You are giving us permission to show it — nothing more.

What you are granting: a non-exclusive licence to display, store and resize your photograph on Funkopedia, and to show it in previews when someone shares a link. Non-exclusive means you can still post it anywhere else, sell it, or use it however you like. We are not buying it and we are not taking it.

What you are telling us: that you took the photograph yourself, or have the right to share it. Please do not upload someone else's photo, a screenshot, or an image lifted from a shop listing.

About the figure in the shot: every Pop comes in a box, and the box has artwork on it. That artwork belongs to Funko and to the character licensors. It is not yours and it is not ours.

This licence covers your photograph — your angle, lighting and framing. That is your creative work. It does not cover the figure design, the box art, or any character artwork, trademark or logo appearing in the image. Those belong to their owners, and we acquire no rights to them.

What we do with your photograph is display it in a catalogue documenting collectibles that people own. We do not sell merchandise using it, compete with Funko's official product imagery, or reproduce box art on its own. That rests on the same footing as Discogs for records or Bricklink for LEGO — long-established practice for catalogues built on photographs of commercial products. We believe it is legitimate. We cannot promise nobody will ever object. If we receive a valid intellectual-property notice about your photograph, we will act on it and tell you we did.

This is not the same as using Funko's own promotional images, which we do not do. Elsewhere on this site we say Funko's box art cannot be used — that means their marketing assets, not your photograph of a box sitting on your shelf.

What we will and will not do

We will: show your photograph on figure pages, include it in site features, and generate resized versions for technical reasons.

We will not: sell it, license it to anyone else, use it in advertising unrelated to this site, or remove your credit from it.

Facts

Item numbers, release dates, exclusivity, and everything else in the catalogue.

Contribute what you can support. Where a source exists, cite it. Where you know something from the object in your hand, say so. "I do not know" is a valid answer and a useful one — a recorded gap is better than a confident guess.

Facts you contribute become part of the catalogue and are not yours to withdraw, because the catalogue only works if it is stable. Your attribution stays attached to them.

Review and credit

New contributors' submissions are reviewed before they appear. Editors and curators publish directly. That is a matter of demonstrated track record, not seniority — and contributors who get it right earn the ability to change more.

Everything you contribute carries your username. That is the point.

Taking things back

Photographs: ask us and we will remove yours. If it is currently the main image for a figure, it still comes down — that page returns to having no photograph until someone submits another. We do not keep your photograph after removal.

Withdrawing ends the licence going forward. It does not undo the fact that the photograph was displayed while the licence was active.

Your account: ask us and we will close it. Your photographs come down. Your factual contributions stay, because removing them would damage the record for everyone else — but we will de-attribute them if you ask.

If you close your account and leave photographs up, we credit them to your former username rather than stripping the credit silently.

What we ask of you

Do not upload things you do not have the right to share. Do not deliberately enter information you believe to be false. Do not use the site to harass anyone.

We can suspend an account that does these things. We would rather explain than suspend.

What we do not promise

Funkopedia is built by collectors and it is incomplete on purpose — the gaps are the invitation. We do not guarantee that anything here is accurate. Check before you spend money on the strength of it.

Some pages link to eBay and similar sites, and we may earn a commission when you buy through them. That is disclosed where it happens.

Changes to these terms

Anything you have already contributed stays under the terms you agreed to. If these terms change, we will ask you to accept the new version before your next contribution.
